MartleyRocks was published to help explain the special geology to be found around the village of Martley in Worcestershire, but specifically to provide interpretation at the Martley Rock site, where rocks spanning hundreds of millions of years of Earth history can be seen by just walking a few tens of metres.
The app contains a 3D model of the topography around Martley and the underlying geological structure viewed from various directions. The user is free to rotate and zoom the model and also change the lighting to enhance the topography.
For the MartleyRock site, a geology map with selectable points linked to photographs taken in the now infilled trenches. Clean samples of the different rocks to be found at MartleyRocks are provided along with interpretations of the kind of environments in which they may have formed many hundreds of millions of years ago.
